For your convenience, below are a few frequently asked alterations questions. Please read the following before requesting an appointment:

When should alterations begin?

Wedding dress alterations should begin two months out from the event date. For example, if your wedding is Nov. 30, the official first fitting should happen no later than Sept. 30. Two months out is an industry standard. Alterations beginning less than two months until the wedding are subject to a rush fee. While this rush fee typically costs around $150, the price does vary depending on the garment, type and amount of working required, timeframe, etc.

What’s the difference between an alterations consultation and an alterations first fitting?

A consultation is a quick meeting with the seamstress to try on your garment and evaluate. From there, Shoua will provide you an alterations estimate. If you choose to use her services, you’ll need to come back for an official first fitting for alterations to start. *If you want a consultation, it should happen three months out from your wedding to allow for further scheduling.

A first fitting is a more formal meeting with the seamstress and is a commitment to using Shoua’s services. At a first fitting, Shoua will pin your dress to your desired fit so she can begin altering your gown. Please note, alterations costs must be paid in full at your first fitting, as is most common across the industry.

How much do wedding dress alterations in Milwaukee cost?

The cost of alterations varies greatly. Each dress is different. One may only need minimal adjustments. Therefore, the cost will be lower. Another may need much more work, which requires further time and labor – and the cost will be higher. Generally, it’s a good game plan to budget for several hundreds in alterations. Remember: you get what you pay for. You want to protect your bridal gown investment with great alterations. Please consider, the goal with having an in-house seamstress is to empower customers to stay with/come to Eva’s for alterations – and the best way to do that is to offer quality alterations at a reasonable cost. Shoua’s pricing for her services remain in line with most others in the industry.

I bought my dress elsewhere. Can I still come to Eva’s for alterations?

YES! No matter where you got your dress, Shoua would love to be the one to alter it. Just be sure to connect further in advance to get your consultation/first fitting on the calendar ASAP, as Shoua’s schedule fills up quickly.
